I kind of get it, kind of don't get it, I get it because i have used photoshop for years so I know what you are talking about. I don't get it how the first screen tone set was made. You said get some pictures, but from the example I see, they are already somewhat pixelized, so that doesn't help in the transition of this tutorial.

And yes... the whole layout is very energetic, but got too messy to be directional. If you want to play around, that's fine... just know when you play around, a thing such as tutorials is still better when people can see and easily understand it.

And don't use stick figure for example.... that just doesn't stand out convincing.
